The Punch reports that Sanda said in Gusau that one of the major concerns of the NYSC was to protect corps members.
She said: “We don’t send corps members to those areas with security implications. We only send them to those areas where there is no security challenge.”
She commended security agencies in the state for their support and cooperation, particularly in the areas of security coverage.
Sanda said that in spite of the security challenges in the state, “we have not recorded any problem or casualty to any of our corps members”.
She urged serving corps members in the state to be security conscious, cooperate with security agencies and report any security situation to them for immediate action.
Sanda also urged them to always cooperate and respect the culture, values and religion of their respective host communities.
It should be recalled that a first class graduate of Petroleum Engineering from the University of Uyo, identifeid as Ukeme Asuquo , died at the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) camp in Zamfara state last year December.
It was gathered that Ukeme passed away on Thursday, December 1, after suffering from Diarrhea.
According to his friend, Victor Jerry Emah, Ukeme never wanted to go for service in Zamfara and was destabilized the moment he received his call-up letter.
Ukeme was described as a brilliant student who won 4 scholarships as a student and finished as Overall Best Engineering Student in his set.
His death, therefore, made concerned Nigerians to call on the government to ensure it takes a very conscious effort to see that the participants of the scheme are well protected and are given the best of medical attention.

Abike Dabiri calls for end to violence against Nigerians in South Africa

- The Nigerian government has asked the AU to look into the xenophobic attacks in South Africa
- It warned that there might be dire consequences for the attack on Nigerians
Nigeria has issued serious warning to the South African government that continued killing of its citizens in the country will result in dire consequences if it is not stopped.
A fresh attack was allegedly launched by South Africans on Nigerians living in Pretoria West, South Africa in the early hours of Saturday, February 18.
The president of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, President, Nigeria Union, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on a telephone call that the attacks began at 4.00am.
Anyene said: “As we speak, five buildings with Nigerian businesses, including a church have been looted and burned by South Africans.
“One of the buildings is a mechanic garage with 28 cars under repairs, with other vital documents, were burned during the attack.
“Also, the pastor of the church was wounded and is in the hospital receiving treatment.”
According to him, the union received information that there will be xenophobic attacks against foreigners on Feb. 22 and Feb. 23 and they proceeded to warn Nigerians living in the city.
The Cable reports that Abike Dabiri who is the senior special assistant to the president on foreign affairs and the diaspora released a statement on Monday, February 20 urging Nigerians to be careful and called on the United Nations to look into the xenophobic attacks.
“These attacks should not be allowed to continue because it is a big setback.”
She said there were reports that attacks would be carried on Wednesday and Thursday on Nigerians.
The special adviser to the president had first met with Lulu Aaron-Mnguni who is South African high commissioner in Nigeria, on the killing of Nigerians in his country.
She had said: “We have lost about 116 Nigerians in the last two years. And in 2016 alone, about 20 were killed. This is unacceptable to the people and government of Nigeria.”
South Africa had promised to investigate these cases.

Presidency not sincere about the true state of Buhari’s health - Adebanjo
Adebanjo made the statement during an interview with New Telegraph published on Monday, February 20.
He also opined that the presidency is taking Nigerian for fools by saying the president is hale and healthy.
‘’The president wrote that he is extending his vacation because of some medical tests. Do you do tests for people who are hale and healthy?’’ Adebanjo queried.
He continued: ‘’As a lawyer, I go by evidence. As far as I am concerned, I rely on the statement from the presidency that the president is doing some tests.
‘’If he is ill, I will pray for him to recover quickly. But I query people who think we are dunces. They are taking us for a ride. No man is above illness.
''As a president anything can happen to you just like any other human being. But everybody is talking about it because Buhari is the president of the country and we have a stake in his good health because if he is not healthy, he cannot govern us well.''
Adebanjo however dismissed suggestions that President Buhari’s situation is similar to that of Late President Umaru Yar’adua.
He praised the president for writing to the National Assembly informing them of his medical vacation.
He said: ‘’So, there is a distinction between his procedure of leaving and that of Yar’Adua. But what is worrisome is the way his image-makers are managing the process of his absence through contradictory statements.
‘’How can you say someone is hale and healthy and at the same time say he is staying behind to get results of some medical tests? If somebody is sick, I believe the person is entitled to a sick leave and after treating himself, he can resume back to work. Somebody asked me; shouldn’t Nigerians ask President Buhari to resign?
‘’I said no, if you are sick in the job and you go to the doctor and the doctor feels that you are weak, you don’t resign, you will only ask for a sick leave to go and rest.
‘’So, there is no question for Buhari to resign. He has done what he should do constitutionally by writing to the National Assembly and appointing his vice to act for him constitutionally. Those who are causing the uproar are those who are managing information about him.''
President Buhari has been in London since January 19. The presidency had first announced that he was there for a 10-day leave. But he has since extended the leave on medical grounds.
Meanwhile, Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi state has directed religious leaders in the state to commence prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari quick recovery.
The governor said they should direct Juma’at Mosques and Churches in their domains to commence the prayers as soon as possible.

Emir Sanusi pushes for bill to prevent poor men from marrying many wives
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi has said he will propose a law that will restrict poor men in the emirate from marrying many wives.
While speaking in Abuja on Sunday, February 19, at the 50th anniversary of the death of Ambasador Isa Wali, a former Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Sanusi said he has established connection between polygamy, poverty and terrorism.
He said he would make sure that a law would be passed by the state government to ban such moves by men who would not be able to cater for many wives.
He said the law would be passed to immortalize the late ambassador who was one of the first northern leaders to advocate for gender equality.
Sanusi: “Those of us in the North have all seen the economic consequences of men who are not capable of maintaining one wife, marrying four. They end up producing 20 children, not educating them, leaving them on the streets, and they end up as thugs and terrorists."
“It is perhaps a tribute to Mallam Isa that today, as I speak, in the palace in Kano a sub-committee of scholars, which I set up and has been working for about a year, is finalizing the final sections of a family law we intend to introduce in Kano which will address some of the issues that Mallam Isa was concerned about," Sanusi said.
Sanusi said the law will address the law will address the real position of Islam on marriage., outlaw forced marriages and make domestic violence illegal.
He also said it willput conditions to be met before any man can marry a second wife and spell out the responsibilities of a father beyond producing a child
“It is a big law which covers a whole range of issues from consent to marriage, to maintenance to divorce, to maintenance of children and inheritance. It will be the first time in northern Nigeria that a Muslim law on personal status will be codified," Sanusi said.
The Emir said while there is nothing wrong with polygamy, women must be given the opportunity to thrive.

Important System Update from GHW

Important System Update

PLEASE READ EVERY LINE CAREFULLY, IGNORANCE WILL NOT BE AN EXCUSE

Hello Participants

GHW has always been known as a frontier force in implementing new features focused towards the sustainability of this platform. We are always working day and night to ensure that your money is safe and the system balance.

We have noticed with extreme displeasure; an increasing number of mischievous members (mainly from the African region) defaulting on their PH only to wake up at their convenient time to drown our support system with account re-activation requests. This has got to STOP!. In our normal approach to issues, we have decided to deal a heavy blow on this trend and eradicate it once and for all .

Within 72hours we will commence the rollout of the following features

  • Any member who exceeds his penalty date will lose 15% of his referrals ; permanently
  • Any Member caught uploading a fake POP will lose 35% of his referrals ; permanently
  • Account Re-activation will be automated, and if you are blocked for uploading a Fake POP, your account will be suspended for 1 month ,along with the cancellation of existing referral bonuses (currently the standard), the system will also cancel all new Referral Bonuses awarded to your account during its suspension period.
  • If your account is blocked due to lack of payment and upload of required POP, your account will remain blocked for 3 weeks, all bonus incurred during this period will be cancelled as well.
  • Members will be able to change/modify their contact phone number when logged in
  • Members will be able to change Bank Account number (ONLY)
  • Automatic Confirmation of Payments : All payments not flagged as fake POP MUST be confirmed within 72hours of POP upload, else the system will automatically confirm the payment. Flagging as Fake POP will halt this action.
Also planned is the decommissioning of profile pictures, all profiles will bear icons based on their Credibility Score.

  • Scarlet (Red) Members: 1- 95% CS
  • Bronze Members: 96-500 % CS
  • Gold Members: 501 – 1000 CS
  • Diamond Members: 1000 & above

Matching Algorithm

We have adjusted the system on PH pairing to factor in Credibility Score, Maturity Date, Level of commitment and other system variables. This feature will make the maturity percentage on the dashboard to be obsolete, it will be updated to report on Weekly progress instead daily. We have also noticed the flood of ticket coming from our African community on matching time. Please be rest assured that the platform is as stable as a rock.

There are lots of factors considered in managing PH pledges of over a trillion value. To reduce the amount of members per PH pairing (total number of members you will be required to PH to), the new algorithm will commence jumping back and forth (0 day – 30th day) to find suitable PHs that meet the criteria . This implementation is already live on the platform, but because we did not announce it officially, we decided to get a grace period for defaulters yet to be cancelled by the system (this is one of the reasons for the late re-matching).

Important Question; do you know anybody who has lost money in GHW before? . Your answer will definitely be a no. And it is our promise that it will remain this way.

Please we urge you, if you are no longer interested in this community, please cancel all your pledges before you abandon your accounts. GHW capital base is enough to withstand it, DO NOT leave it to be matched when you are fully aware that you are no longer interested, this is causing head-ache for our dedicated members and our support team. All members are encouraged to help each other, it is important that you contact the member that is to PH to you, incase he/she is ignorant of the matching.

GHW is a community, our being here is entirely up to its members, and we promise not to let you down . Zero Downtime, Zero Breaks , Zero Losses . Long Live GHW

Yours truly
